The purpose of this organization shall be:
1. To perpetuate the common sense use and enjoyment of horses in Kentucky’s back country and wilderness.
2. To work to insure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use.
3. To assist the various government and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource.
4. To educate, encourage and solicit active participation in the wise use of the back country resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage.

Southeastern Equestrian Trails Conference
SAVE THE DATE:  July 12-14, 2012
Lexington, Kentucky

 

The Kentucky Horse Council in partnership with the Kentucky Back Country Horsemen is hosting this year's Southeastern Equestrian Trails Conference in Lexington, KY.    Although the details are still being planned, you can look forward to the following activities while attending the conference:

· A workshop on the horse trails of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, a historic Shaker Farm & Village which has realized the benefits of working with local Back Country Horsemen for development and maintenance of trails.

· An optional "Horses and History" tour of the Lexington area, including thoroughbred farms, the Keeneland racetrack, historic landmarks and more.

· Two days of educational sessions including both basic and advanced tracks, as well as special attention to youth topics and attendees.
